With it’s origin tracing back as far as 1899 Bergdorf Goodman has a long history as one of Manhattan’s top luxury department stores. With the bar set high, so are the technology solutions, a feat Sharpdot was eager to tackle. Challenges with creating the interactivity and programming side to their stores new digital displays, we were able to help take the department store into the 21st Century, and enhance their customers in-store shopping experience.
The touch enabled in-store directory has helped keep Bergdorf Goodman retail experience live up to the high standards of the demanding luxury department store industry. By incorporating the digital displays through-out the stores it has created a better shopping experience for the customers. It has helped the end users obtain more information on products, directed customers to sales, and helped them find their way to items in the store. Since the data is all dynamically sourced and managed through a web based scheduling portal including translations, search and the ability to manage multiple locations, it has enabled Bergdorf Goodman to launch certain content at preferred times to maximize sales, as well as marketing campaigns.
Bergdorf Goodman is a luxury goods department store based on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. The company was founded in 1899 by Herman Bergdorf and was later owned and managed by Edwin Goodman, and later his son Andrew Goodman. Today, Bergdorf operates from two stores situated across the street from each other at Fifth Avenue between 57th and 58th streets. Bergdorf Goodman’s main store, which opened at its current location in 1928, is located on the west side of Fifth Avenue. A separate men’s store, established in 1990, is located on the east side of Fifth Avenue, directly across the street.
The company traces its origins to 1899 when Herman Bergdorf, an immigrant from Alsace, France, opened a tailor shop just above Union Square in downtown Manhattan.
