For the Emory University Library system holdings of over 3 million volumes in nine libraries and nearly a million visitors in 2008 is not enough. The library works tirelessly to be a model for libraries of the future by integrating digital, print, and multi-media resources all in the service of courageous inquiry.

Sharpdot re-designed and implemented 4 websites for the library system to bring a new consistency, usability and identity-focus that speaks clearly to this vision. Built using Drupal, the new sites wrap in powerful content management with the flexibility to grow to meet the changing needs of the future.

The sites are the University Library, Goizueta Business School Library, Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library and MARBL.

Sharpdot is excited to announce the launch of the redesigned website for Emory University’s Robert W. Woodruff Library.

The holdings of the nine Emory University Libraries include more than 3.1 million print and electronic volumes, 55,000-plus electronic journals, and internationally renowned special collections. The Robert W. Woodruff Library, also known as the University Library, is the central hub in the library system.

Sharpdot launches redesigned MARBL website!

Sharpdot is proud to announce the launch of the new website for Emory University’s Manuscript, Archives and Rare Book Library.

Better known as MARBL, this library houses collections that span more than 800 years of history with particular depth in modern literature, African American history, and the history of Georgia and the South.

Just as importantly, subscribe to our RSS feed to catch the updates as we continue to write about our process and the technology under the hood over the next few week.

Some new features that we’ve already started writing about include: creating the site in WordPress MU, reading and displaying an RSS feed in flash, extending RSS feeds in WordPress, CSS and web standard tricks, and even little stuff like setting up to use gravatar.

Our contribution reduced maintenance time to a bare minimum by interfacing the flash directly to POS system so it could display up to the date show times and video trailers that are downloaded by a .NET desktop application during off-hours.

Westchester Philharmonic

Sharpdot recently redesigned the website for the Westchester Philharmonic. Because of their proximity to New York City, the orchestra features some of the world’s best classical musicians and their website needed to reflect that. The rebuild included working with the Westchester staff to enable them to easily update content after launch including changing out the featured flash slideshow images.

US Coast Guard Interactive Map

We were contracted by Blenderbox to build an interactive flash map for the newly relaunched Coast Guard website. As you zoom in on the map a helicopter flies in and drops a coastie into the selected region before showing the recruiters for that state. In addition, the project included a drag and drop admin tool to position the actual locations within the map. The project was completed and integrated into the site on time and within budget.

Meredith Marketing Homepage

Sharpdot was contracted by Blenderbox to build the featured homepage flash piece of the Meredith Integrated Marketing’s new website. The interactive movie simulates magnetic “fridge poetry” to showcase Meredith’s client work, highlight their services and create an engaging entryway into the website. The project was delivered within budget and ahead of schedule much to the client’s delight.

We built and run Portfolio Atlas – a hosted online service allowing artists to easily create and maintain their own website. The site is subscription based with recurring payments made through a payment gateway. It features the use of the PHP Zend Framework and currently includes over 30 artist websites.
